Cortina d’Ampezzo

Cortina d’Ampezzo is located in a natural rocky amphitheatre surrounded by Pomagagnon and these other majestic mountains in the Eastern Dolomite range: Antelao, Sorapiss, Croda da Lago, Croda Rossa, le Tofane and Cristallo. Ernest Hemingway declared Cortina to be the most beautiful place on earth. Cortina figures on the “Best of the Alps” list, a grouping of the twelve most refined mountain resorts in the Alps. Its uniquely shaped peaks have helped to give it the title of queen of the Dolomites. It is of course an earthly paradise for winter sports lovers, but equally sought after as a summer holiday location. With its one hundred and ten kilometers of snow covered tracks, it is also an ideal venue for great sporting events such as the stage of the World Skiing Cup held here every year. As a town with a long history, Cortina harbours hidden treasures of ancient arts and by-gone professions. It has a reputation for exclusiveness and as a trend-setter in culture and fashion; no wonder it has been a choice spot for the international jet-set crowd enchanted by the charming location and won over by a sparkling ambience that creates memorable moments. Admiring a sunrise or watching it slowly behind the high peaks of the Dolomites is a spectacle of rare beauty. With glamour included, it is not difficult to fall in love with Cortina.
