Canazei

Canazei is situated in a splendid basin, set in the Dolomites of the Val di Fassa, and is the pearl of the local Ladino culture. It forms part of that spectacularly wide ranging ski area, known as ‘Super-ski Dolomiti’, which covers the four domains of Belvedere, Ciampac, Rodella and La Marmolada. These places have a cult status for keen skiers and snowboarders, but there are also an infinity of solitary trails immersed in white silence for aficionados of cross-country skiing. Canazei lies in the shadow of La Marmolada, queen of the Dolomites and watchful guard of its spectacular landscape; it evokes distant memories of both pleasant walks and high altitude climbs, of colours, sounds, tastes and aromas. This best known town in the Val di Fassa is not only famous for its coloured houses, but also for its thermal bath health spas and its thriving nightlife. But most of all it is associated with the great international sports events that take place here, like the Sellaronda Skimarathon during the winter, or the night ski races on the wonderful pistes of the Dolomites, and the Dolomites Skyrace in summer, which features on the calendar of the world high altitude running championships.
